15 Gal Planted tank - The Cave

03:23
15 gal hi-tech planted tank Seiryu stone rockscape Plants: HC foreground, pearlweed background, H. tripartita, Stauogyne repens, Ludwigia sp. red, Fish: Boraras merah, Boraras brigittae, Pseudomugil gertrudae, Celestial pearl danio Substrate: Layered dirt, capped with aquarium substrate. Base layer is a clay heavy subsoil, topped with organic compost mix, then capped with ANS aquarium substrate (mostly inert) & plain grey sand. Lights: 2 X 20w CFLs Ikea desk lamps (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20370383/) Lights are on 7 hours a day and light fixtures are 3 inches above water surface. 2700k Bulbs are used for growing, switched out for 6500k bulbs for filming as 2700k bulbs look good visually in real life but too yellow for camera to compensate. Fertilization: Macros - 4ppm Nitrates, 0.5ppm phosphates, 5ppm potassium dosed every other day through KNO3, KH2PO4 and K2SO4. On days that Macros are not dosed, 0.3ppm Fe & traces dosed through plantex CSM + B. 4ppm. Magnesium dosed once every 5 days together with 40% water change. Circulation/filter: One of the Ehiem ecco models rated for a larger tank CO2: ANS regulator with solenoid (local brand) ; UP Aqua inline atomizer that delivers a fine mist. CO2 comes on an hour before lights on and turns off 2 hours before lights off. Other water parameters: Relatively alkaline water- KH between 7 to 11 due to limestone. Temperature 27-29 degrees celsius. GH/pH untested - estimated to be around GH10 / pH7. TDS - around 250-300 Note to comments: You need to enable reply in your comment for me to reply directly - may be an issue with mobile devices Full journal: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/12-tank-journals/731794-xzs-3ft-high-tech-low-tech-nano-experiments.html Visit my new website: https://www.advancedplantedtank.com/ Music: Teller of the Tales by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

6 gallon Planted tank with Seiryu, Boraras species

01:53
6 gallon planted tank with Seiryu stone scape Lights: Zedlight 6300 Variable tuning set; not exactly sure of PAR ratings, but I estimate I run it about 50-60 PAR on substrate, but lowered it for filming. Else the rocks will be too bright for camera to compensate. Lights run for 7 hours a day Fishes: Boraras Brigittae, Merah Plants: Monte carlo foreground, Limnophila vietnam, Ludwigia arcuata Custom dirt substrate CO2: Injected by in tank diffuser but not tested for exact levels, tuned such that MC foreground pearls 2 hours from lights on. Estimate medium level compared to the higher levels used in my other tanks, as the plants in this tank are undemanding. KH, GH, TDS: Untested but from prevent experience, should be about 7, 9, 300 respectively. Water changes; due to large limestone ratio in tank, and frequent feeding of fishes, opted for more frequent but smaller water changes - 25% every 3 days. Fertilization: 2.5ppm K, 0.05ppm Fe/traces dose daily K2SO4, CSM + B/Fe EDTA 13% 0.5ppm PO4, 2ppm Mg dosed every 3 days with water change Nitrates not dosed except at initial planting/first couple of weeks. Targeted less than 10ppm NO3, so that L. arcuata remains redder Visit my new website: https://www.advancedplantedtank.com/ Music: Two Together Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
