JAGJIT SINGH - Live In Concert At Sydney Opera House - by roothmens

*ALL RIGHTS ARE RESERVED TO THE SONG OWNERS OR LICENSED.* * IT IS NOT INTENDED TO VIOLATE COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL, WHICH ALL BELONGS TO ITS RECEIPTED OWNERS.THIS VIDEO IS ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSE ONLY.* Singh is credited for the revival and popularity of ghazal, an Indian classical art form, by choosing poetry that was relevant to the masses and composing them in a way that laid more emphasis on the meaning of words and melody evoked by them. In terms of Indian Classical music, his style of composing and Gayaki (singing) is considered as Bol-pradhan, one that lays emphasis on words. He highlighted this in his music for films such as Prem Geet (1981), Arth and Saath Saath (1982), and TV serials Mirza Ghalib (1988) and Kahkashan (1991). Jagjit Singh is considered to be the most successful ghazal singer and composer of all time in terms of both critical acclaim and commercial success. With a career spanning over five decades and a repertoire comprising over 80 albums, the range and breadth of his work has been regarded as genre-defining. He is the only composer and singer to have composed and recorded songs written by Prime Minister - Atal Behari Vajpayee - also a critically acclaimed poet - in two albums, Nayi Disha (1999) and Samvedna (2002). Singh's 1987 album, Beyond Time, was the first digitally recorded release in India. He was regarded as one of India's most influential artistes. Together with sitar legend Ravi Shankar and other leading figures of Indian classical music and literature, Singh voiced his concerns over politicisation of arts and culture in India and lack of support experienced by the practitioners of India's traditional art forms, particularly folk artists and musicians. He also lent active support to several philanthropic endeavors such as the library at St. Mary's School, Mumbai, Bombay Hospital, CRY, Save the Children and ALMA. Singh toured the UK in 2011 and was due to perform with Ghulam Ali in Mumbai but suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on 23 September 2011. He was in a coma for over two weeks and died on 10 October 2011 at Lilavati Hospital, in Mumbai. He was cremated the following day at Chandanwadi Crematorium in Mumbai. A number of tributes have been paid to Singh after his death, and some tried to encash his popularity which was criticised by his wife. In 2003, Singh was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award, by the Government of India In 1998, Jagjit Singh was awarded Sahitya Academy Award, a literary honor in India. He was awarded this literary honor for popularizing the work of Mirza Ghalib. Sangeet Natak Academy Award Sahitya Kala Academy Award by Rajasthan Government in 1998 Ghalib Academy by Delhi Government in 2005 Dayavati Modi Award Lata Mangeshkar Samman in 1998 by Madhya Pradesh Government D. Vulnerable Populations and Aboriginal Health - Time for a Curriculum

01:26:37
This third instalment in our series on social paediatrics will take a more focussed look at vulnerable populations, including inner city and aboriginal children and youth. The panel will provide an overview of the vulnerabilities of inner city youth who are at greater risk of school failure, substance use, adjudication, parenthood, and poor mental health as compared to their non-urban counterparts. We will also discuss mechanisms to foster resilience among youth living in the inner city, and will look at some of the aspects of these issues that might uniquely affect Canada's aboriginal population as well. The discussion will finish by asking whether it is time to develop a curriculum that covers the various issues of social paediatrics, and embed this in the education of paediatricians and other healthcare providers.

I personally don't blame them. CBT just had to finally do what most businesses do under similar circumstances: They close down and/or leave. As a community, we are going to be worse off for it. I cannot fathom what our Town Council was thinking to let this happen. Someone will have to take this one for the team. http://www.tourismcanmore.com/ Get rewarded for supporting our local Producers in their community. Leah Kongsrude: Are Municipalities the Key to Sub-watershed Management?

25:42
Leah Kongsrude talks about the role of Albertan municipalities in sub-basin watershed management. She describes those roles in the context of the Sturgeon River and what the cooperation of municipalities has meant for the watershed. Cooperative work to alleviate flooding, protect riparian areas and urban expansion led to similar standards for land-use bylaws and engineering standards. Encouraged by this success, St. Albert led the development of a multi-stakeholder group to work on watershed management for the Sturgeon River. But consensus did not emerge so the group had to dissolve. So St. Albert refocused on cooperating on a state of the watershed report for the Sturgeon Report. The status report provided recommendations for further municipal cooperation in watershed management for the Sturgeon River. Municipal based partnerships seem to be the way forward for watershed management rather than focusing on wider stakeholder involvement. Leah Kongsrude reviews the municipal success stories in the Edmonton region that show watershed cooperation works among municipalities. And she concludes by explaining why municipalities are successful in cooperative watershed management. Leah Kongsrude is the Environmental Manager with the City of St. Albert, Alberta. Her presentation was part of the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance Annual General Meeting, June 26, 2013 at the Enjoy Centre, St. Albert, Alberta.

26:07
WARNING: "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are warned that the following program may contain images and voices of deceased persons". Living in Two Worlds is a 26 minute documentary made by Indigenous Media Scholarship students and a partnership between the OPEN CHANNEL, NITV, City of Port Phillip and St Kilda Youth Services. The film was produced by Open Channel students Lisa Maza, Aretha Briggs, Tim Church and Arthur Jackson working with industry mentors Alan Collins ACS, Rima Tamou and Peter Worland. Living in Two Worlds gives voice to the 'Parkies', a group of mostly indigenous people who congregate in the park. It also follows Dave Arden, a proud Kookatha/Gunditjmarra man and well renowned songwriter/musician, who also spent time in the park. They come together at Yalukit Wilam Ngargee Indigenous music festival, where the 'Parkies marshal, and Dave and his band play. These unique stories highlight family, culture, identity, connection and the resilience of people living in two worlds.
