So I don't Sou Vide the Oysters?
Henry Zabel (8 months ago)
Check local selfish laws before you prepare oysters in this manner . In Washington state you must leave the fresh shell on the beach . http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfish/oysters/shuck_on_beach.html

The comment section for chefsteps videos sure is a negative place right now. Even videos that don't have joule have people moaning about joule. Really if you don't like it so much just unsub and leave room for people who want to talk about food.

satanismybrother LOL, this!

Did you guys get rid of Grant or something? Is that why the videos are all these 1 minute commercial type videos and not the fun goofy videos with grant that gained you all the subs you have today?
At the beach now!!! But I want them raw. 😊
Raus (9 months ago)
No need to flip' em?
Raus (9 months ago)
Thanks for the info but I was being sarcastic :/
Fiora Emerald (9 months ago)
Flipping them would make you lose all the lovely oyster juices
Flaming Falkor (9 months ago)
You'd likely overcook them if you grilled both sides, or the oyster might just slip through the grates and burn.

"TraineeSteps" returns

I never understood why in the US you love to cook oysters when it is heaven just raw with some shallots vinegar with some rye bread and butter. Not judging here, just saying.
iamagi (2 months ago)
Depends on what species of oyster. If it is Ostrea Edulis, then it's preferable to eat them raw but if it is pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) I prefer to grill them since they are so large.
Dade Murphy (9 months ago)
co_li plenty of people eat them raw in the US, although it's beyond me why anyone would enjoy eating slime.
afraidcomet (9 months ago)
skittlebeape you need to get out more
zeta555 (9 months ago)
a lot of seafood are great when raw, like tuna, salmon, and other fish. but it didn't stop us to cook them right? it's called variety.
Maxwell Mooney (9 months ago)
co_li errr we mostly eat them raw in the Pacific Northwest?

Longform Joule commercials.
MBattino (9 months ago)
I loved ChefSteps from the beginning, but it seems that after all the hype with Joule. They just took the money and ran....too bad, they used to have great content!
U (4 months ago)
MBattino bruh. Its their income. They don't wanna be something small surviving on the income of others buying cookery classes. Joule is their way of expanding buisness and making a brand item while being in the cooking area instead of shirts and so on. They arent like youtubers. They are an actual buisness making videos to advertise themselves
Seasurfer (9 months ago)
Why do I feel like every recent Chefsteps video has just been a compilation of their latest dinner party celebrating their buckets of Joule money, dressed up as an educational video? RIP this channel :(
pine apple (9 months ago)
