This quick & easy version of the famous South Indian Breakfast is just as delicious as the regular fermented one which is made using Urad Dal and Rice/Idli Rawa batter. You can make this Idly using Eno or Baking Soda totally your call. Detailed Recipe below! I tried this recipe a while back. The idlis were really very spongy and soft. Best part is that it is very tasty and requires very less time as compared to rice idli. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

i did not ask u y eno n curd is added m making it clear that curd is fermented agent n hence this not a NO FERMENT idly n let me make it clear that eno is not at all added in authentic idly if u hav any doubt come down to coastal karnataka or bangalore where this idly originates from.......madam ENO IS A NO NO ill show u how rave idly is made

goutham p85 if you don't add you will not get softness, even if you buy ready made mix,eno or soda is already added in the pack and instructions says add curd for sourness and softness

Great recipe!! Please do the urad dal, rice idli as well soon... Extremely soft and little grainy I suppose, just the way it's found in south indian homes/restaurants...very hard to find such a recipe
