I tried this exactly like it's explained in the video and the description, but without peeling and a rather old microwave that has only 550 Watts. Without oil it took me like 10 minutes until the chips were somewhat crispy and all of them were brown and stuck to the plate, with oil it took less than five minutes, but they still tasted a bit raw, but also were starting to get brown and both times the plate was so hot that you couldn't grab it without a kitchen towel.. is my microwave to weak, should you dry the pieces after you take them out of the vinegar, does it only work with peeled potatoes of a specific cultivar or were my slices too thick (what I don't believe, because the chips were thinner than the ones you buy)?
DUDE.......UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I played with it a few times and here's what worked for me. I didn't have vinegar but a viewer said he used dill pickle juice, so why not. I soaked the slices in the pickle juice for 10+ minutes, film oiled my plate (some were sticking when I practiced), cooked for 4 min , flipped them over and put some black pepper on them and cooked till they browned (in my microwave it was about 4 minutes (add 30 sec if not brown enough). I WILL NEVER BUY POTATO CHIPS AGAIN!!! I started making noises like this guy when I was eating them!. I am going to get stupid with future recipes and add garlic and onion powder when I flip them.... The options are endless!!!! THANK U SIR!!! and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
You can use a no salt substitute for sodium sensitive individuals taste just as good but I'd recommend baking over microwave 400° for 20 to 40 minutes check every 10 for golden brown look and crispness on chips .
Can anybody tell me what is the role of vinegar in this ? Yesterday i watched another video and it wasnt with vinegar. It turned out crispy chips. But now i see this with vinegar. Does anybody know it?
