Remove insides and tie legs together with twine. In a mixing bowl, combine spices. Rub outside of chicken with spice mixture and coat thoroughly. Place onion wedges in a layer in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add chicken on top of onions. Cook on low in slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours (depending on size), or on high for 4 hours. Be sure to check on your chicken throughout the process, because sizes and cooking times will vary! Remove chicken and onions from slow cooker and serve! Yields ~6-8 cups of meat (8 servings). yeah! We were initially told the same when we rescued, lab pointer, although they didn't really know... but we are pretty confident now that she is a border collie whippet mix! She is soooo sweet!!

The maple Dijon is so good. I made it last night with tofu (I fried up the cubes just to brown them before adding it to the slow cooker), and I threw in some peppers, mushrooms and broccoli. Amazing.

Genuine question : your website says this makes 8 servings and each serving of Dijon mustard has 60 mg sodium which in turn calculates to 4230 mg sodium which is clearly unhealthy

Love your videos. One question - you put the ground beef in the slow cooker without browning it, I thought you always had to pre-cook it. Al least that's what most slow cooker recipes say to do. Do you cook it on high setting?

I cook it slow and low! It will cook through :) you can brown if you prefer but it’s no problem if you don’t.

Hahaha, Lol! Love the intro Alyssa! That's so me, shhh, don't tell my husband, wait, I mean my ex, (is that the reason we're divorced?😏 lol) J/j. (We actually divorced for diff. reasons.) This is genius though!! We all need downtime though....and simple, no fuss dinners!!! On a serious note, I'm glad I cook now though, nothing replaces good ole fashion being in the kitchen all day. 😃 not that I do it all time, but when I do, it's well worth it. Not a mustard fan so I use maple syrup and curry together with chicken in the slow cooker and I do the same with cod or whitefish that are somewhat tasteless.....oh so good....add a bit of butter too if you can take the extra calories...sweet and savory chicken....so awesome.

I love your videos so much. I love that you make recipes that are actually accessible to most people. I've always had problems finding healthy recipe resources because a lot of them are well-to-do vegans who only use coconut nectar and organic grass-fed meat I can't afford.

Usually it's clean with just a few parts that are already separated so you can easily removed :) Sometimes it's already completely removed too.

sure, depends how you want to eat it, if you throw in larger chunks I would shred it :) Cubing it first just means it's already in smaller bite sized pieces after it cooks :)

I made the Maple Dijon Chicken over night and made 8 meals out of it when i got home tonight. Had one for dinner and it was wonderfull. I am taking one to work tomorrow and the rest i am freezing for other meals. Doing them with a side of mixed frozen veggies. Next i want to try the chilli recipie. Love slow cooker meals. I just made the chili recipe! The only alterations I made were I added a chopped onion, a jalapeño, and used pinto and red kidney beans. We had it over baked potatoes and it was delicious!!!! I used ground turkey but I think ground beef would do well too! 😋

perhaps for your slow cooker that was too long, most will cook in less time. It might only need 4-6 hours.

Please don't call these recipes healthy! The amount of sodium in each one of them is way, way over the top. That's okay for a healthy person (now and then) but people with certain medical conditions must avoid an over abundance of sodium or very serious problems could arise. And even healthy people need to keep their sodium below 2500 mg. per day. When are people going to realize "healthy eating" is more than watching fat and calories? Yes, I love my slow cooker too, the recipes look tasty and easy, but they are NOT healthy!

Sure, people with certain medical conditions will need to watch their sodium, and that's their responsibility to do so, but sodium does not make something "unhealthy," especially as it depends on a person's total intake. If someone is making their own food at home, generally with whole foods, and not eating out– sodium won't be much of a concern for them when cooking at home (if they don't have any other health conditions). It's the same way that if someone needs to be on a gluten free diet, it is their responsibility to make sure they aren't consuming gluten. Gluten is not inherently bad, but for some people it needs to be monitored more than others. These may not work for YOUR lifestyle, but remember, YOUR lifestyle is not going to be representative of everyone else's.
