The Best Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Servings: 12 INGREDIENTS ½ cup sugar ¾ cup brown sugar, packed 1 teaspoon salt ½ cup butter, melted 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1¼ cups all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking soda 4 ounces milk or semi-sweet chocolate chunks 4 ounces dark chocolate chunks (or your preference) PREPARATION Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars, salt, and butter until a paste has formed with no lumps. Whisk in the egg and vanilla, beating until light ribbons fall off the whisk. Sift in the flour and baking soda, then fold the mixture with a spatula, being careful not to overmix too much. This will cause the gluten in the flour to toughen which will result in cakier cookies. Fold in the chocolate chunks evenly, then chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. For a more intense toffee-like flavor and deeper color, chill the dough overnight. The longer the dough rests, the more complex its flavor will be. Scoop the dough with an ice-cream scoop onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving at least 4 inches of space between cookies and 2 inches of space from the edges of the pan so that the cookies can spread evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges have started to barely brown. Cool completely, and enjoy! I just made these cookies. They are about to go in the oven 😆😆😆. I hope they look like the ones in the video 😬😍😍 Edit: they turned out really nice but a little salty, so I'd say to add less salt. Also the chocolate didn't melt very well but that was just my chocolate. 😂 So tasty!!!!!

Yes, pop it into the fridge for at least 30 minutes. But I recommend you: leave the dough in fridge for 72 hours, so the dough will be caramelized and darker.

I tried this recipe! I don't know what I did wrong, but my cookies turned out like cake! They were delicious though. I didn't put in the white sugar (because comments said it made it too sweet), I didn't sift the flour and baking soda, and I didn't fold the dry ingredients in, so maybe that's what affected it. I'm not sure, but I still recommend the recipe! I'll definitely make it again!!

I did this with dark chocolate instead of milk and dark. Tastes nice but gonna add less white sugar next time.

I love desserts and sugar but honest to god I thought these were too sweet. . To the point where you actually NEED milk after a couple bites. I'd suggest lowering the amount just a bit . Also my cookies wouldnt begin to get brown in the instructed time so I had to add an additional 2 minutes to mine... By doing so though it made them super hard when they cooled. I'd suggest sticking to the suggested time and pulling them out of the oven even if the bottoms don't change in colour at all. Maybe then they'd be soft and chewy. If, like me, you ended up with hard cookies (once cooled), dont worry. Simply put a slice of bread into the container/bag of cookies and let it sit for a day or two. The cookies will then be soft :)

tips: use less sugar make sure the brown sugar is grounded use two sticks of butter instead add a bit more flower the cookies will not harden inside the oven instead remove them anyway they will harden outside the oven do not let them stay inside for more than 15 mins :)

If y'all wondering how to measure for 3/4 cup its just 1/2 and 1/4 cups added together. Because 3/4 cups equals to 12 tablespoons. And a whole 1 cup is equal to 16 tablespoons. So 1/2 equals to 8 tablespoons and 1/4 equals to 4 tablespoons meaning 8+4 equals 12 tablespoons meaning its 3/4 cup. If I confused you then sorry.

I followed this recipe to the dot, baked it for 12 minutes and let it cool but my cookies are underdone in the middle, the bottom has browned but the top has just slightly stiffened over. The dough didn’t spread as much either so I added a little extra baking soda in another batch and it still hasn’t worked... help, somebody!

I made the recipe with semi chocolate chunks instead of milk chocolate by accident, and the chocolate chip cookies still came out great! It is a great recipe to make chocolate cookies. I enjoyed the chocolate cookies. I will try to make and post online too! A!

Long-time cookie baker here. These are the BEST chocolate chip cookies I've ever made, and I've tried many different recipes. Made the recipe as given, except used 60% chocolate chips at 7 oz - still got amazing melty goodness. The most surprising thing about these cookies is their crisp-chewy edges and soft gooey centers. Keep the sugar to butter ratio, it's perfect. Not too sweet if using dark/semi-sweet chocolate. DO CHILL the dough, either before you scoop or after. Freeze scooped dough for 5 min at the very least or they will spread too much. ALSO make sure your oven is ACTUALLY to temp - get a separate thermometer as most home ovens are not accurate reads.

A honest review about these cookies which i made 3 days ago : They were chewy even after they were cold. I really liked their texture they were soft and tender. However though i cut down the white sugar they were very sweet to handle. (And trust me i like sweet desserts)They tasted just like sugar and 8 ounces of chocolate was too much. (Yeah too much chocolate for this small batch) I guess there is something wrong with the propotions idk. Welp i hope this helped.
