The Best Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Servings: 12 INGREDIENTS ½ cup sugar ¾ cup brown sugar, packed 1 teaspoon salt ½ cup butter, melted 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1¼ cups all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking soda 4 ounces milk or semi-sweet chocolate chunks 4 ounces dark chocolate chunks (or your preference) PREPARATION Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars, salt, and butter until a paste has formed with no lumps. Whisk in the egg and vanilla, beating until light ribbons fall off the whisk. Sift in the flour and baking soda, then fold the mixture with a spatula, being careful not to overmix too much. This will cause the gluten in the flour to toughen which will result in cakier cookies. Fold in the chocolate chunks evenly, then chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. For a more intense toffee-like flavor and deeper color, chill the dough overnight. The longer the dough rests, the more complex its flavor will be. Scoop the dough with an ice-cream scoop onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving at least 4 inches of space between cookies and 2 inches of space from the edges of the pan so that the cookies can spread evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges have started to barely brown. Cool completely, and enjoy! I did these cookies 2 times and ı had some problems 1. In the first cookie, it was so sweet that ı wasn’t able to eat it but it had THE best texture ever and spread a lot. Then i used less sugar 1.It tasted very good, it was well balanced and had a pretty good texture but it didn’t spread. Idk what happened but i only added a little less sugar and just a little more flour if somebody can explain why this happened???

Hey for anyone wanting to know I tried this recipe it was delish ! Super easy. They were very sweet but I enjoyed them I let them chill for 30 minutes and made have it the batch and then I let some sit overnight and they were super good !

I prepared following the exact recipe. Except I used 1/4 cup white sugar. 1/2 cup brown sugar. I added few extra drops of vanilla essence. It tastes amazing. N it has the perfect sweetness. I guess 3/4 cup of brown sugar will be too sweet.

Okay, I would be considered a fetus when it comes to baking experience; I really only started somewhere around the end of last year and I hardly ever bake anyway, mostly because I despise cleaning up afterwards. Everything I make comes out really weird too. It's seriously like a thing with my family? Anyway. Even with my lack of baking experience, these were absolute GOLD. They were super easy and I really appreciate that it only uses one bowl (plus the pan to melt the butter) meaning a lot less cleanup! They were SOO good though. I saved the leftover dough in the freezer because I'm going to eat that by itself later! I would really recommend this because it's super easy and really tasty too.

GUYS!!! I make these sooooo often now and I have to say, this is one of the best recipes I’ve ever used in my life. Here are some better ratios for a (in my opinion) better cookie! Change the 1/2 cup sugar to 1/3 cup Add extra brown sugar (3-4 tbs) Take away 3 tablespoons of flour amd replace with cocoa powder These are easy changes but in my opinion, make the cookie taste so much better

Everybody listen up before u make a comment about these cookies not working. The brown sugar has to be the dark brown sugar. And adding a 1/4 cup more makes it chewy. That is why some people think they mess up at 0: 24. Just add more brown sugar and the cookies will be chewy. Ur welcome

It doesnt have much molasses in it as dark. You can use either but if u want maximum chewyness dark brown suggar is the one for that

UPDATE!! OMG. complete fail!! Everything fell apart and everything crumbled. Obviously the cookies hadnt ever heard of the word "chewy". They tasted..."eh", it wasn’t bad because of the lack of sugar tho, it was sweet enough, just right, not too sweet, not/not sweet enough, yep, just right! It was definitely not as good as what they looked. But the presentation was absolutely disgusting! It was legit just crumbs everywhere! I’m thinking it was because I didn’t chill it enough but anyway..... I’m going to make another batch tomorrow and let it chill for a few hours before I bake them. Hope they turn out well.😆😆 Xxparnia💕

These are great but personally I feel 8 ounces of chocolate in total is a bit much, and makes it harder to fold into your dough. I used around 6 instead.

Just tried this recipe and it was honestly the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had, however I did make a few personal changes. I used brown butter (cooled to room temperature) and added 1/4 cup of flour to my recipe. Lastly placed my dough In the freezer for about 20 minutes then baked..I tried both the original and my changes. They are both great but brown butter is the truth.

i got it already but it was too sweet. the second time i tried by lessening the white sugar. however, it didn't turn out doughy. instead it looked smooth like fudge after adding in the flour.

these are boss. Just what i found out. If ur planning to reduce the sugar, the butter and sugar ratio are equivalent to each other. So if ur reduce sugar, reduce butter amount as well. Just tip from making these incredible cookies!
