As a Korean, I have never used sugar in my recipes. Instead I use Asian pears and caramelized onions to really get the authentic flavor. Much healthier! Although I will say that Tasty did a pretty good job. My mom usually uses potato starch rather than corn starch for the fried chicken.
All you Koreaboos...stop spouting off on Korean cuisine or culture because BTS or Big Bang something or another.
These recipes are fairly legit.
No such thing as North or South Korean cuisine. We have regional Korean cuisine.
We were one people before the Korean war. Before the Japanese, we were a unified sovereign nation for hundreds of years.
All but #3 are traditional Korean recipes.
#3 is close. They just use a different cut...which looks crazy good.
For bulgogi: dilute it with a little water. Pureed kiwi is better than the pear. Undiluted marinade is usually used for bone on ribs.
Other than that...this Korean old lady approves.
Tried the pork stir-fry tonight. Absolutely delicious! It was easy to make, and resulted in a sweet, yet savory, dinner that hits you unexpectedly with heat. I would recommend cooking the meat and onions, then removing them from the sauce and continuing to cook the sauce to thicken. Otherwise a perfect dinner, great for a family that loves spicy food.
